Well this is a very unusual album to listen to from PH. But being just a couple of years younger than PH I can relate to some of the songs. It’s very Hammill in sound. The man is a genius no doubt about it. Giving the Hammill take on ‘The folks that live on the hill’ I remember my mum and dad singing that back in the 50s. I have only managed to listen to this once so I can’t go into it in detail but it will take a few listens, which is a good thing because to me when you like an album straight off it soon ends up at the back of the shelf. I was looking forward to the Paizzolla version. Kronos Quartet has covered a few of him which I like, seen them play quite a few times. I saw PH with them too at The Barbican a few years back. ‘This nearly was mine’ ‘I who have nothing’ both nostalgic for me. His take on the latter is outstanding, the piano and vocal sound great, I love it. Just over 40 minutes of play which I think is long enough for any album, time enough to digest it’s contents. In the meantime ‘life goes on, bring more white wine’

Bill Murray : PH. Lost in translation.
Good idea but poor results. Very boring

I thought there were some very good songs on there. My particular favourite is Ciao Amore but there are three or four others already vying for top spot! Definitely NOT boring

Has anyone else noticed that the cover is about 5mms higher than say its Ten/FTTs/CON/pno,gtr,vox equivalents. Not that I'm "anal" about my cds being the same height, I was thinking of those people who have one of those racks with the plastic spring release system.
Snookered!!!!

Interesting article on thebluemoment.com one of the comments said PH was born to sing ‘I (who have nothing) in which I heartily agree

Change of release date for the white vinyl version: The release date for this album has been put back to Friday 13th August 2021. Let’s hope that is not tempting fate!
