Hi Energy Vampires!!
I wonder if any of you can tell me how this Dec 6th 1976 recording can to light?? How come it has never been available until the Charisma Years? I have listened and been knocked out by the performance of each song. Great applause also.
Just listen to how much the band are elaborating or bring a new slant to many sections of the songs e.g. Meurglys 3 It is truly magical.
I'm particularly interested because this concert is only a couple of weeks after seeing them for the very first time in Leeds in November 1976 I think it was at the Grand Theatre. The energy, power, chaos and beautiful melodies just astonished me. Hammil's top E string broke at the beginning of M3 but he recovered well. He did 'No More the Submariner' with Hugh during which Guy and David had a break. I have since learnt that Hugh had very bad tooth ache during this tour.
Never forget it.
Hoping they are all managing to stay in good health for Feb/March UK tour. Hoping to follow them around. I live 100mtrs away from the guy who operates the mixer desk at the back. I think on this tour he will be setting up on stage. Met him for the first time at the Arlington Concert nr New York on that tour. Amazing we live so close.
Did anyone go to the K Group warm-up concert that was in a small pub in Pebbles before the concert in Edinburgh 82'ish i think?

It seems there are some TV and Radio stations who archived what they recorded, while others did not. I think this recording was always there, but nobody bothered to search for it until now.
Same with the BBC. Some of the VDGG and PH sessions are directly from them, others have only survived when someone taped them back then, or when a transcription disc emerged. Here's another show which was possibly recorded: www.vandergraafgenerator.co.uk/roundhouse_rm030476.jpgBut did this broadcast really happen? Cause if so, fans must have taped it, and it would be surprising that no copy has survived.

Hi Michael - I was at that show in the Cross Keys in Peebles in 82. Came down from Edinburgh in the wee orange MG with Irene, my friend Neil's partner. Got into Cross Keys as gear was being set up so we went to the bar to smoke and have a drink. PH was playing pool with one of the crew and we put some money on the table to be next up. Peter cleared the table pretty quickly, the crew guy went back to finish setting up and just as I was realising I was about to have a frame of pool with PH there was a call of "Peter!" from where the gear was so he handed us the cues, smiled, shrugged and said sorry...
Others arrived later, Neil, Steve and Ronnie and Irene's sister. All for their first PH show. All blown away, especially by his voice. With it being basically a pub gig it was very intimate and the atmosphere was great. Neil had discovered the Guinness and as it took effect he pleaded, in ever more inventive ways for Paradox Drive to be played, all without success. Other rum doings occurred that night that I can't go into here, but it was a splendid gig.
Took Neil to the Queen's Hall gig two days later and it was a much more sedate affair. We did have a brief blether and drink with PH, Guy & Nic in the bar after, and I still have my signed Mirrors, Dreams and Miracles nearly forty years on... Looking forward to Feb.

By the way, from this Leeds show from 10.11.76 exists a recording, I don't have that, but at least the setlist does not mention 'No More the Submariner'. So maybe it was another show where this happened?
